20th Annual SC Midlands Master Gardeners Symposium
The theme of the 20th Anniversary South Carolina Midlands Master Gardeners Association Gardening Symposium is Southern Garden Memories. As the committee bantered about themes, the one that kept coming to the table was how we all remembered something special about a garden in our past and why we were so fond of those memories. Some of us remembered certain plants while others remembered critters and still others remembered a certain smell that when we thought about it, it triggered a memory of someone special in our past.
Southern Garden Memories will include topics about pass-along plants, critters (good, bad and missing) and fragrance. Along with these topics, we will touch on cost effective measures for our gardens and how using some of the methods our ancestors used could benefit us today. Speakers for the day’s events include Bryce Lane and Jenks Farmer. The speakers are experts and will make you laugh!
The plant vendors will provide plants that we haven’t seen in public or private gardens for a while as well as some we have in many of these gardens. Artisans will bring products to make our garden environments special and bring back or start new memories. The silent auction will also have great stuff that can be yours for the right bid.
Tickets are on sale for $50.00 for SCMMGA members and $60.00 for non-members. You can access the ticket information on the web site. The 20th Annual SCMMGA Symposium will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2010. The site is the Columbia Conference Center off Fernandina Road in the St. Andrews area. We look forward to seeing all of you at this 20th anniversary Symposium. We will have information on the web site soon. Remember that space is limited so, purchase your tickets now!
